St. Michael the Archangel Wedding | Jesley and Kat

Jesley and Kat chose a date that only comes around every four years. A leap day wedding. Rare, a little unexpected, and very fitting for the kind of story they were writing together.

I’ve known Kat and her family for a long time, so walking into that day felt less like showing up for work and more like being welcomed into something personal. There were familiar faces in the crowd, friends I’ve photographed before, and a sense of ease that carried through the morning preparations all the way to the ceremony.

After the ceremony, we stepped away from the usual routine and headed to a bar instead of staying within the typical church and reception backdrop. That change of setting gave their portraits a completely different character. Moodier light, textured walls, and a space that did not feel like a standard wedding venue.

Looking back at this wedding now, I am reminded that meaningful stories are not defined by trends or timelines. Some days simply stay with you. Jesley and Kat’s leap day celebration is one of those.
